I am a first time Toni and Guy client and had a wonderful experience with Chantima. She listened well, i left feeling like a million bucks and she also showed me ways to style my hair that i have never thought of. I bought two products which is recommended - and I am really happy with them because i now know how to style my hair differently using these products.
Finally I feel like I have something a little different going on with my hairstyle!
Thanks Chantima!!
From long hair that wanted to keep length but have something interesting to play with.

Been going to Lana for a couple of years now because she does the greatest job on my hair colour and highlights. Just perfect, subtle but always a good comment from friends.

In regards to the funky layers and keeping your hair long I would recommend seeing Amy who is a mid-range stylist or Kieth who is our senior stylist. They are both great with layers and long hair. Kieth has been with the company much longer which means he charges a higher price.

In regards to the color I would recommend seeing Deserey for a free consultation. She is a senior color tech and she will be able to tell you if you can achieve the look you want.

Note: "Balliage" is coloring without foils. It will give you a less structured look.

I have long, mid-back strawberry blond hair with natural highlights. It is currently in long layers, and I have a LOT of hair. Every time I go for a haircut, I always get comments on how thick and full my hair is.
Unfortunately it has reached the length where I am starting to get headaches from the weight, and get massive matts and knots at the nape of my neck, from my ponytail falling down throughout the day.

I need a stylist who can handle cutting a massive amount of hair, into something that is wash and wear. I don't own a blowdryer, and I don't use styling products, so something that looks styled without me having to do a whole lot would be great!

Thanks in advance

I would recommend seeing any one of our senior stylists. Omar, Cherie or Gio.

We have other clients who visit the salon with similar issues. Make sure to notify the receptionist that you have thick hair so that they are able to book you extra time for your appointment.

If you are looking for a long-term solution the Keratain Complex treatment is something that we offer and that you might want to consider.

*Note: Styling products are an essential part to healthy hair. An amazing product for thick hair is Moroccan oil. Our stylist will be more than happy to assist you on showing you how to use the products to maintain your hair.

The Toni & Guy on West 4th is amazing. After a disastrous hair experience at a different leading salon and another hairdresser who wouldn't do Balayage on my hair either, I was SO happy to learn what a brilliant color specialist Lana is. She is so skilled at Balayage and made sure to do exactly what I wanted, I have never been happier with my hair.

Also, Ana did a great job on my hair cut. You can't go wrong with this salon.

Hello! I got Japanese straightening done to my hair in early January (it's still super straight and I love it), but now I don't have enough volume. I have quite a bit of hair, and it's medium, not too thick or thin (Asian hair). It's a bit boring but I'm nervous about trying different styles. Who should I speak to about getting a good cut and how can I boost volume in my hair esp around the crown ?

Hello,

I have very fine, straight hair that is just below my shoulders. I'm looking for a "refresh" - not anything too different, but some blended layers that will grow out nicely (since I live overseas in an Asian country, where stylists aren't used to my hair texture, so I often go for months without a cut over there).

Which stylists are good with fine, straight, long hair?

Thanks :)

My two teen daughters have thick spiral-curly hair that is midway down their backs when wet - they do not want to cut the length too much but want the curls emphasized. We have not had good luck with previous stylists, and they end up with 'triangle hair'. Then they use all sorts of styling products and heat tools to control their hair, and this ends up creating other problems. Where/who would you recommend that they see? Thanks, a grateful mom

Hi
I moved from Ireland in April and have been afraid to get my hair cut by anyone since! I had a great stylist in Toni & Guy at home who worked with my thick curly hair and made it beautiful all the time. I'm not in Vancouver so not near Toni & Guy but will be down for a weekend in November so want to find someone who's great with curly hair. I know the training you get with toni & guy is great for curly hair, but can you reccomend your best curly hair cutter and which location please? I'm desperate!! Thanks

We are glad you are interested in coming to see one of our stylists at Toni&Guy. All our stylists are up-to-date on the latest trends and are experienced with thick hair. Thank you again for your interest, and please keep us posted on how your experience at Toni&Guy went.

I'm looking to go back to my natural colour (which is a dark brown) and perhaps add a small blue streak to liven it up a little. I plan to go to the Downtown location. Whom do you suggest?

September 17, 2010 at 10:48 PM Ray Kanani said...

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in Toni&Guy, when it comes to technical services there are a lot of variables. Somethings you have to consider when booking an appointment are:
-Do you have a certain price range or schedule preference ?
-What level of technician do your prefer?
-How much hair do you have?
These are all factors which can help you determine which technician best suits your needs.
Call the Downtown location 604-608-4247 to get further information on who will suit you best, we have a range of technicians who would be happy to help.

Please tell us how your experience at Toni&Guy was we would love to hear back from you.

i have dark brown/black hair

who would you recommend I book a consultation with? i've heard good things about Lana. and for the haircut?

how much would this most likely cost?

September 28, 2010 at 10:28 AM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi,

We are so glad that you have heard lots of positive feedback about our salon and we look forward to seeing you soon.

We love this look right now! Lana is great she is one of our senior technicians and works at our West 4th location. Cuts range anywhere from $60-$100 depending on what level you see.

Also at our Alberni Location we have a variety of talented Technicians and Stylists available to help you achieve this look. The best way to go about finding the best match is to call your nearest location and speak to a receptionist about your wants and needs and they will tell you who to see for a consultation. A consultation would also be the best way to determine the price for the colour.

Please keep in touch we would love to know how your experience went. Let us know if you have anymore questions.

Thank you for responding so fast! I hear that Lana is good with blondes..what about going from dark hair/black to brunette with balayage highlights (like the picture) who would you recommend would be able to help me achieve that? Also if not Lana, who at the Alberni location could help me achieve this and who would you recommend for that kind of hair cut?

September 30, 2010 at 10:53 AM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi,

We are always excited to have new clients who are interested in coming in to see us, and we love to answer any questions that you may have.

The picture of Jessica Alba that you sent is one that the staff are very familiar with. Lana is great at doing any kind of colour including balayage and Sal is amazing at cutting and skilled with a curling iron. I would recommend that you call in the book a consultation or appointment with Lana and Sal at the West 4th location 604-737-4249. Make sure you bring in the picture for reference.

Let us know how everything goes, we would love to hear your feedback!

I want to book a consultation to have my hair 'fixed'. It's currently highlighted blonde, but my roots are showing (partially because I still haven't found a stylist I trust and am hesitant to pay 150+ to have a style I don't love). My hair is way over processed due to years of colouring (what colour is my natural colour? Your guess is as good as mine!!).

I want to go to a darker colour that is 'less processing and work' to maintain. I am open to a completely new style, as I don't have a particular vision, but I need someone that can come up with a style that will 'suite my face and features'.

Who do you recommend??

October 8, 2010 at 10:20 AM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in Toni&Guy it is extremely important to come in for a consultation when your hair is over processed and damaged, as the integrity of your hair is our technicians number one priority.

If price is a concern we have two excellent lower level technicians, Andrea and Devon, who would suit your needs very well. You can book to see either one through the Downtown Alberni St. Location 604-608-4247.

Let us know how your experience went, we would love to hear your feedback.

Thank you,

Hi,

I am an Asian female with a lot of very curly and frizzy hair. I had a terrible haircut years ago at another salon that turned my hair into a triangle. After that, I have went for Japanese Straightening for several years, because it is easier to manage and every stylists I saw told me that there is nothing I can do but to keep my hair straightened. I would love to cut off my straightened hair with a haircut for curly hair that suits me and get help on how to style my hair. Because of my previous horrific experience in salons, I am apprehensive in talking with stylists. Do you have a stylist who is great with handling a lot of curly hair, cuts hair after it is styled and dried, and is also good at listening and visualizing?

Thanks!

October 13, 2010 at 1:36 PM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi,

We have a lot of great stylists who would match what you’re looking for. What your price range is, what level of experience you prefer and feel comfortable with and which location is more convenient, are all factors you must take in to account when booking your appointment, the best advice I can give you would be to call your nearest location and speak with a receptionist about your concerns they will be happy to assist you and recommend someone for you. If you have any hesitations about the cut, book in for a consultation with one of the recommended stylists to have a talk and make sure you both have the same idea of what look you are trying to achieve, bringing in pictures also helps.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Thank you,

Hi,

Lana is our Senior Technician at our Kitsilano on West 4th, when your wanting a price for colour and advice about what to do with your hair especially if you have history with not getting the result you want we always advise getting a consultation. The appointment is 10-15 minutes and is no extra cost, it helps the technician and client work together to get an idea of what you want your hair to look like, although it is an extra appointment it is completely worth it and will take time off your next appointment because they will know your hair history. Call in to West 4th to book your consultation with Lana she is fantastic with blondes!

Let us know how your experience goes; we always love to hear feedback.

I have been following the news of Prince William's engagement to Kate Middleton, and learned that her hair, which I've long admired, is done by Richard Ward, and she gets what they call an "Infusion Blow Dry." So, I'm wondering if you know what exactly that is--I assume it's not the same thing as the Brazilian Blow Dry, or the Keratin Treatment. Do you offer this "Infusion" service, or something similar at your salon? Thank you.

December 21, 2010 at 12:28 PM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi,

Thank you for your comment, we do not carry a similar service to the infusion blow dry, it is similar to the keratin treatment and would work better if you have already had this service. You can go the Keratin Complex Coppola Website and order the product which can be used at home without a salon service. Otherwise you can contact our downtown location and we can give you further information.

hi, i have straight long hair and would like some layers at the top and all around my head, to give me more volume while leaving the length long. can you please tell me which stylist you would recommend for giving the "bob" look/layers on long hair? i would like someone who has experience doing this
thank you,
Nicole.

December 27, 2010 at 4:48 PM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi Naida

For what your looking for I would recommend booking a consultation with a mid level or senior stylist they need to see the texture of your
hair to recommend looks that will give volume while keeping the length of your hair.
At the Downtown location I would recommend Ali or Cherie and at W4th location Edward or Omar.

Let us know how it goes, make sure to bring pictures of looks that you like.

hi there,

my sister is looking to get her hair permanently wavy. she has fine, medium length hair (3 inches below her shoulder). I would like to get her this for her birthday which is in late Jan. Can you please provide me with a price point and which of your stylists would be the best for this procedure?

thank you,
Lianne

December 30, 2010 at 11:51 AM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi,

There are two options you can do because this sort of treatment's price is established by consultation, you can bring your sister in for a consultation and purchase a gift card after or you can purchase a gift card for around $200 and if there is extra she can purchase retail products. Sarah at the Alberni Street Location is awesome for this service, and would be perfect to help your sister achieve the look she wants. Please call or come in for more information or to purchase a girt card.

We look forward to seeing you.

My hair is super thick, coarse, and curly (looser curls, not tight). It's also very dry (though not damaged, if that makes any sense). It's quite long and "thinning it out" often ends up with it feeling jagged, which I don't like.

Do you have stylist who loves working with my type of hair?

Gio is our resident curl expert, he works at the Downtown Alberni Location he charges $90 for a cut and would be happy to meet with you for a consultation if you have any questions or concerns, please call 604-608-4247 and book in your appointment.

We look forward to seeing you!

I'm new to Toni & Guy. I read a lot of the blogs and made an appointment for a consultation with the Kitslano Salon. Ashley at the front desk is fantastic!! I booked a color correction with Lana and a shaping haircut with Ana. Both are AMAZING! I'm a brunette who's been coloring my own hair for the past 3 yrs. and like to keep my hair on the long side. Lana gave me the most amazing highlights and Ana the perfect shaping cut without taking any of my length really. I am so pleased!! LOTS of compliments and my hair is still long and VERY healthy feeling and looking. I am hooked! They are definitely my new best friends!! I recommend them to EVERYONE!

Thanks to you all,
Anngie

Hi, I hope you can help. I have "salt and pepper" hair on top, which is actually more of a pretty platinum with darker hair. It's completely natural. However, I used to get it highlighted and the highlighting is more of a gold tone, starting about 8" down the shaft.I have pale blonde extensions. People are now commenting that my hair looks grey on top and gold half way down, and perhaps I shoud lget it "seen to." My stylist says she can do nothing with the highlighted part as this would require bleaching and my very fine hair would not take this. (She has used the highest possible lifter for highlighting it.) When she highlighted my hair last time, bright yellow came out of the shaft. She said this was due to the fact I take two turmeric capsules a day. It sounds bizarre but I guess could be true. Any suggestions? Is this something Lana is familiar with? Thanks so much. T.

January 21, 2011 at 10:34 AM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi, T

We have consulted our senior color technicians about this particular situation and they have all said the same thing: the darker "pepper" pieces of hair have a very deep pigment that will not lift with high lift color and with the contrasting very light 'salt' colour it can cause the hair to look 'yellow'. Your stylist was correct in saying that you will have to use bleach however there are many mild bleaches that we have used that are perfect in this situation. Also we have never heard that taking turmeric will affect your colour, in fact many of our staff take turmeric and swear by the health benefits. If you do go to any salon request a senior colour technician and make sure they are familiar with your situation before they start the process.

I hope this helped to answer your question, if you have any concerns give our salon a call we would be happy to help.

Sincerely,
Toni&Guy Vancouver

Hi!
I love the Ombre look and I am currently looking for someone in Vancouver who I can trust to do a good job on it, as I am moving into the city from Australia.
Could you reccomend a stylist? It doesn't matter how much it costs - I just want a fantastic job done.
My hair is currently dark brown and shoulder length and has been dyed before. I also have hair extentions that are 20" long and end a little past my chest. I am looking for someone who can dye both my own hair and extensions in the Ombre style in a way which looks natural.
I understand that I will need to come in store to have a consultation and I will do that as soon as I get into Vancouver, which won't be long! In the meantime, could you reccomend a stylist and a colourist?
Thank you so much,
Samantha

Hi, Samantha

Thank you for your interest in coming to see us, you should definitely come in for a consultation, I would recommend booking an appointment at the Alberni Street location with Rio for colour and Ali for a cut. If the Kitsilano Location is more convenient for you then Lana and Ana would do a fantastic job as well.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi,
I am looking for find a hair stylist who can teach me how to style my hair properly? Whenever I get my hair cut/highlighted, I can never manage to style it the same way at home. Is there someone who could teach me how to create natural looking waves or even just straighten my hair without it looking flat?

FYI- My past stylists have said I have thin/fine blonde hair but that I have a lot of it! So potentially, it doesn't have to lie flat on my head. It is naturally slightly wavy and length is about 3 inches past my shoulders but with long layers at shoulder length.

-I always get really nervous for hair appointments, because I have had bad experiences with stylists "mis-interpreting" what I wanted. Which stylist should I see? and what service would this be considered? (styling?)

thank you :)

Hi,

Thank you both for your interest in Toni&Guy Vancouver.
The graduated bob is one of many cuts that all our apprentices have to master before they can become a stylist at Toni&Guy and can take clients. It is the same when it comes thin hair all our stylists have been educated to be able to handle all the different types of hair. It all depends on what your price range is, what level of experience you feel comfortable with and which location is the most convenient. Jina at W4th and Kassia at Alberni our two of our junior stylists who have completed all their training and would be fabulous for what you are both looking for.

We look forward to seeing you both soon.

Hi Karen,

At Toni&Guy we are a departmentalized salon which means that there are separate people for cut and colour, we match you up with the two people who work best for your needs and they work together to give you the look of your dreams. Cuts start at $60 and increase depending on how long the stylist has been with Toni&Guy and colour is normally quoted during the consultation. What I recommend would be calling into Toni&Guy and letting them know what time works best for you, what price range you feel comfortable with and how much experience your prefer, and they will fit you with the two best people. We can book you in, at your earliest convenience.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,
I'm hoping you can recommend a stylist who can help ease my hair frustrations. I have very thick hair, 4 inches below my shoulders; it has a natural wave/curl in it, but tends to air dry into a pyramid shape because of the weight of it. I want a cut that will allow me to continue growing out the length, but is very modern, with lots of layers and shape to it, and is not simply what every other stylist has done (namely thin the bottom into a fringe). I should also probably mention that my ideal cut would be something that is versatile (which I can either blow dry into a straight classic style, or let air dry into a messy, tousled look). I can go to either location, and price is not a concern.

I would be eternally grateful if you could recommend someone who can create a modern style for longer hair, suitable for a 24 year old professional.

Thanks!

Hello!
S.O.S!!! I'm an Aussie who has just arrived in Vancouver. I had a great 'ombre' hairstyle with the colors similar to Rachel Bilson that I LOVED! But when I went to get it redone in Banff, the hairdresser made it thick black strip down the middle of my head with the rest being bright orange! I have been dying my own using a packet mix since as I'm super nervous now...(gone to a dark brown) but would love to get back to my original ombre hair. Can you help?

Hello,

I just cut my hair into a bob after many years of long hair. I love the cut, but my new stylist is now on mat leave:( I am looking to find someone who is great at cuts especially with very straight, fine hair. The last cut I was so happy by the way my hair falls into place, but I am realizing with short hair it needs to be done often!:) My hair was quite damaged before my cut, and I like to be a bit on the blonde side. I did not have bleach this past dye job and cut, but despite blonde shampoo I am a bit brassy. If you can suggest someone downtown that is great with blonde's and does amazing cuts, that would be fantastic! Or if they are cool with one cutting and the other dying that would also be cool! Hello. I am a natural redhead but for the past 10 years (now that I have some grey hair) I have had to colour my hair to keep up the red and cover the grey. I must say I haven't had anyone yet who can get the right colour - either too brown or too "fake" looking. Is there any colour technician that has experience with colouring red hair? Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for your comment, I would recommend Sarah, her hours are Monday, Tuesdas, Friday and Saturday at our downtown location and does Wednesdays at our Kitislano location. Come in for a consult if you are weary about the shade of red you are looking for.

We look forward to seeing you.

Please Help....I'm looking for a new stylist and hair colourist, I am happy to go to either the Kits or Downtown salons.

My hair is long (just past shoulder length) and mid brown (I recently coloured my hair myself (medium golden brown) but I feel this colour is too dark and needs lifting (maybe some fine golden highlights. My hair is very thick and tends to look bulky but I don't like it being chopped into too much as it creates too many layers and makes it difficult to manage but don't mind some soft longer layers. I would like to get my hair coloured and cut into a new style so would appreciate some advice on who is best to go to, I am quite fussy and prefer stylists/colourists with a few years experience under their belt.

Hi there,

I've been on the search for a permanent colour technician for the past five years. I have long thick Asian hair with lots (and I mean LOTS) of red undertones which I absolutely hate. I'm looking for a colour technician that could help me achieve a highly desired ash brown colour. I've been to Tonic (which is supposedly really good at doing ash) only to have my 'ash brown' turn into an unattractive brownish red colour after two weeks of washing :( To top it off the stylist charged me $240 for just putting a toner on my hair. Can you please recommend me to a colour expert (preferably for Asian hair coloring) at any of your locations? Thank you!

Regards,

Lola

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for your question! Going from dark to light can be challenging so I would recommend Pasty for the colour and Ali for the cut at our downtown location, or Lana for the colour and Jeff for the cut at our Kitsilano location. If you are hesitant to make the appointment book in for a complimentary consultation first to discuss the possibilities.

We look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
Toni&Guy Vancouver

Hi Lola,

Thank you for your question, brown hair colour tends to come with red undertones but it is possible to get a cool brown ash. I would recommend Rio to do your colour, he is the colourist to the stars and knows what brown will keep your hair looking cool without the warmth of red. Contact our downtown location to book in a consultation or appointment soon!

We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi there,

I came for the first time a few weeks ago to get my hair coloured(by lana) and cut(by jeff) and it looks fabulous! I couldnt see on your website anywhere, but i was wondering if your kits location does japanese/Ionic permanent hair straightening?!
If so, what is the pricing like? My hair is thick and just below my shoulder, if you could give me an estimation that would be great,
Thanks!

Hello,

Yet I was relieved when I knew that there is T&G here and not so far away from my place!! (downtown area) I got an asian hair so could you reccomend me someone who is good at dealing with asian hair? Should I make an appointment first with him/her? I am a guy btw.. And I am definitely going there at the end of this month!! Thanks!!

Hi there,

I have trouble finding a good salon, which is probably why I have been jumping from one salon to another. I would like to get my hair coloured ombre style. I'm asian, and I have straight black hair. I would like to get it dyed from black to blonde (ombre). Can you recommend a name of a stylist that would be perfect for me and has experience in dying ombre hair, and which location I should visit?

Thank you!

February 21, 2012 at 2:02 PM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi,

Thank you for your question, ombre is still a big colour trend and our technicians have a lot of experience with doing the ombre technique. Your hair is darker and will take more experience to lighten it so I would recommend Rio or Patsy at our downtown locations they are both senior technicians. I would also recommend a complimentary consultation before, so you can go over ideas and discuss what kind of look you are going for.

We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Toni&Guy Vancouver

Hello there! I have naturally dark blonde/ almost slightly black hair, and I've been highlighting it for the past couple years (blonde) although the stylists I have gone to have never really been able to highlight it the blonde I want and it usually comes out as more copper and darker than I want. My hair is rather stubborn when it comes to color and is rather frizzy if I dont use hair products on it and blow dry...my hair is naturally curly but I like to straighten it most of the time... who would be a good person to go to (I've heard great things about Lana at the kits location). Do i just call and make an appointment for a consultation?

February 25, 2012 at 10:31 AM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi,

Thank you for your question, achieving the right kind of blonde can be a challenge, Lana at our West 4th location is fantastic with blondes!
You can call to book a complimentary consultation anytime. The West 4th location is open Tuesday-Saturday, 604-737-4249.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Hi

I'm looking for a very very good cutter and stylist. I have longish hair just past my shoulders however it is very very thick. I would like to try and keep it longish without the bulk but also without chopping into as this creates lots of layers, which can make it harder to handle. Please advise who would be best to help sort out my hair? Thanks MC

April 16, 2012 at 3:15 PM Toni and Guy Vancouver said...

Hi MC,

Thank you for your question, I would recommend Ali or Keith at our downtown location. They are great at creating manageable layers without sacrificing length and they have a lot of experience taking out the bulk!

Were looking forward to seeing you.

Toni&Guy Vancouver

Hi,
I just had a great experience in Tony & Guy (Kitsilano ) with Lana for coloring my hair in blonde and Jeff cutting my hair in super cool short style .I came with disaster haircut and Jeff was working really hard to make good style out of my very thick hair:)
Best Thing here is that Jeff and Lana accept me like a team and they worked together to figure out what will be best for what I wont. Pardon my English is not very good but All the best for Tony&Guy Team:)

Hi, I have really thick and dry hair and I was looking for a stylist who is good with latest trends for men's haircuts (such as haircuts celebrities are wearing) and will also give advise on what style will look good based on the type of hair and head/face shape. I just really want someone like who you see on tv when people go and get makeovers done to create better styles. Thanks.

Hi! I dyed my own hair awhile back and it turned out an orangey brown that I didn't like so I got foil highlights to break it up. They are growing out now and what I would really like is the balayage look. I am wondering if it is possible to do balayage on top of previously foil highlighted hair?

June 3, 2013 at 1:26 PM Alysa K said...

Hi,

Balayge is a great way to break existing highlights without damaging the hair. We have had clients who have come to us to fix their hair after using at home hair dye and it is possible to do so. I would recommend coming in for a consultation with Lana or Clare, two of our senior colour technicians, they will take a look at your hair and give you some amazing colour options.

We look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,
Toni&Guy Kitsilano
